One of the most successful and well-watched DVD courses produced by Training Reels was the Residential Networks course. This was a 3.5 hr DVD course that covered the design and installation of every sort of “network” in homes and/or light commercial.

“Home Network” is a broadly used term that means different things to different industry groups, but in this course it means the infrastructure, both wired and wireless, used to interconnect products and systems in the home to support voice, data, and broadband RF applications, and to connect those systems and applications to outside services. This covers everything from basic phone service to entertainment to home automation.

This is just Part 1 of the course workbook. The course contained a LOT of material. Almost everything in the course is directly applicable today.

Grayson was first licensed as WN4GVM in 1962 (yes, that old). He has spent much of his life in electronic product development, most of it with solid-state electronics. He got interested in restoring old thermatron amateur radio equipment in the early 1990’s and has been doing it ever since. His main interest is in thermatron receiver design. He is a CEDIA (Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association) Certified instructor, CEDIA Top-10 Instructor, and has taught hundreds of technical courses at CEDIA University, CEDIA Expo, and other industry events for the past fifteen years. His previous company, Training Dept. Seminars, created over a dozen full length video training courses in the custom electronics design and installation field. He holds a Bachelor in Architecture, and Masters Degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
